frequented the Bloor and Lansdowne area of #Toronto which at the time was a dangerous and high crime area.

The Missed Lives Project is trying to locate the high school she attended to track down her friends and family for more information and leads. According to current school boundaries, Rudge would have gone to TL Kennedy Secondary School, which has no record of her attending. Other options outside of that boundary (that would have been open in the 1977-1982 time frame that she attended high school) would be Woodlands Secondary School, Port Credit Secondary, and Applewood Heights.

A Young Girls' Life Cut Short - The Cold Case Of Patricia Lupton

Case: 2/1959

Name: Patricia Lupton
Alias: 'Pat' to her immediate family, 'Patsy' to her extended family
Murdered/Body Found: March 9, 1959
LocationToronto, Ontario, Canada
Date Of Birth: July 4, 1946
Age:12

A Little Bit About Patricia's Case:

On or about February 16, 1959, 12-year-olds Patricia Lupton, Brenda Walker and Lucy Novak and 11-year-old Maureen Monaghan, friends and neighbors in the Toronto suburb of Scarborough, saw a notice posted on the bulletin board at the A & P supermarket then located at Kennedy Park Shopping Plaza, at Kennedy Road and Eglinton Avenue East. The notice called for "applications from babysitters": the girls, having all had experience babysitting for their neighbors, put their names, addresses and phone numbers on the accompanying list. (Patricia, Brenda and Maureen were trying to save up $20 apiece to go to Camp Sherbourne, near Bolton, Ont., the following summer.) Three weeks later, on March 9th, Patricia  received a call from a man answering the ad. This man, identifying himself as "Mr. Johnson," said that he and his wife were going to visit their ailing infant son in hospital, and therefore needed a babysitter for their slightly-older son. (Brenda, at this time, was bedridden with the flu and Maureen's line was busy; Lucy was never called.) Patricia agreed to come to Kennedy Park Drugs, in the same plaza, where "Mrs. Johnson" would pick her up. With her love of small children in general, Patricia had become highly regarded both by the children she'd babysat in the past and by their parents: therefore her own parents, Albert and Bridget Lupton, felt safe letting her accept the job. Nonetheless, when she left home at 6:20 to keep the appointment, she agreed to check in with them upon reaching the address. By seven o'clock Patricia had failed to call. Four hours later, on the CBC-TV news, her anxious family learned that she had been found dead at about 7:20 in a snowbank on McCowan Road, less than two miles from her home. She had been strangled with her own scarf; though she was not sexually assaulted, the somewhat-disarrayed state of her clothing, plus bruises to both her knees, made it probable that sexual assault had been attempted.

The next day, upon learning of her friend's violent death, Maureen Monaghan gave up babysitting. Also that same day, Ontario's then-Attorney-General, Kelso Roberts, asked supermarket chains to ban babysitting ads from their bulletin boards. Patricia's death fed already-high public outrage in a city which had seen the several horrific and unsolved murder cases between 1947 and 1956.

Details of Investigation Provided by the Toronto Police Service:
On Monday, March 9, 1959, at about 7:05 p.m., police responded to an emergency call on McCowan Road south of Ellesmere Road. The victim was discovered off the roadway, suffering from medical trauma. Despite life-saving efforts by emergency personnel, the victim was pronounced dead at the scene. Investigators believe the victim was last seen alive leaving her residence en route to Kennedy Park Plaza sometime after 5:30 p.m.

Name: Susan Cadieux
Date Of Birth: December 21, 1950
Murdered/Body Found: January 7, 1956
Location: London, Ontario, Canada

A Little Bit About Susan's Case:

On Friday, January 6, 1956 at about 7:15pm, 5-year-old Susan Cadieux was playing in the schoolyard of St Mary's School located at 345 Lyle St with her older brothers and another girl from the neighbourhood.  The Cadieux family lived across the road at 665 York St, not far from the school.

At approximately 7:45pm, a man approached the group and spoke with Susan who relayed to the other children that the man was goingto give her something.

The male also told them that he was supposed to meet with the St. Mary's church priest and stated that he lived on York St. as he pointed his finger towards King St.

When the children got distracted by a nearby fall on the ice, the male walked away with Susan.

By 8:00pm, Susan's brothers ran home to tell their parents what had happened and a search for Susan began.  The London Police Force became involved in the search by about 9:30pm that night and by 1:30am on the morning of January 7, over 300 people were searching for Susan.

At 10:08am, Susan Cadieux's fully clothed body was found at the rear of Roy James Construction located at 609 William St. alongside the CPR spur line.

If you have any information about the death of Susan Cadieux please contact us.

In the 1950's police sketches were actually done by hand.  The picture below is a sketch of the male who led Susan away.

He was  described as white, 30-40 years old, tall, thin, and unshaven.  He was wearing a light brown overcoat which was unbuttoned, unbuckled black galoshes that flapped openly, and a dark Russian style or army Melton hat with ear flaps.

Susan was playing in the playground of St Mary's School on the southwest corner of Lyle St at King St. Her body was found approximately 9 blocks to the north west at 609 William St near the northwest corner of Central Ave at William St.

Classification: Endangered Missing
Date Of Birth: November 23, 1957
Age At The Time Her Of Disappearance: 26
Age As Of 2015: 58
Height: 5'6"; 168cm / 66 inches
Weight: 119 lbs.; 54kg
Hair Color: Black
Eye Color: Brown
Race: Aboriginal/Native
Gender: Female
Also Known As: Ross, Clara; Richards, Darlene; Abigosis, Marlene Yvonne;
Campbell, Darlene
Case Number: Case Reference: 2014001708; Reference Case#: MIS 02-112467
Distinguishing Characteristics: Native female. Wavy black hair; brown eyes.
Home Community: Pine Creek First Nation

A Little About Marlene's Case
Marlene Abigosis was last seen in March of 1984 in Vancouver's downtown east side and lived a high risk lifestyle. Known to work near the docks, clients that owned boats would take Marlene with them on trips to Washington State and Vancouver Island on occasion. Yvonne was last seen on January 1st, 1984 and reported missing on May 22nd, 2002.

A Little About Marlene (written by her sister)
Marlene was the eighth born of 14 children by Frank and Vitaline Abigosis (Campbell) of Pine Creek Reserve in Manitoba. Had she still been here, she would have been in the process of applying for the Common Experience Payment, and the Independent Assessment Process as a result of the residential school experience. Unfortunately, she was not a survivor so she vanished before she had a chance to resolve that part of her past. My last memory of and contact with my sister was in March of 1983, when she telephoned me in the middle of the night. She was sick and tired of being sick and tired, so she was planning to leave Vancouver and try to make some changes in her life. I thought she would arrive in Revelstoke in the next few days. Sadly, she never arrived, and I never heard from her again. Half my brothers and sisters have passed away, and all have died from alcohol and/or drug addiction, without ever resolving the pain, anger, hate, shame and loss of a childhood that they were put through while going to school. If it wasn’t the school, it was from parents who were themselves former students of the residential school system. My father, Marlene’s father, suffered traumatic experiences in the residential school system, then passed on the violence and abuse of every sort to his children, including to our mother. Therefore the residential school system, the Catholic Church and our father, who was a former student, took something from us children that severely compromised our adulthood, causing the deaths of half my brothers and sisters. And that something was our childhood.

I think of Marlene all the time. She was a beautiful person who made an effort to phone all the time to make sure someone knew where she was. I still wonder, and want to know, what happened to her. I have this fantasy that she left with a boyfriend in a ship and is abroad somewhere in Norway. She fell in love once. I met him, and he was a handsome Norwegian who came to Vancouver in a Norwegian ship. She would wait for his ship to come in so she could see him. It was at this time that I saw a change in her. A change in appearance and attitude.

All she wanted was to be happy

The Disappearance Of Dana Zelic

Case Number: 99-6261090

Dana Zelic

Missing Since: August 30, 1999 from Hamilton, Ontario
Classification: Missing
Date Of Birth: November 12, 1972
Age: 26
Height: 5'6"
Weight: 100 lbs.
Hair Color: Dark Brown
Eye Color: Brown
Ethnicity: White
Gender: Female
Distinguishing Characteristics: She has a beauty mark on the left side of her throat approximately the size of a nickel. AKA: Dana has been known to use the first names of "Donna," "Frankie" and "Alex".

A Little Bit About Dana Zelic
Dana Zelic disappeared from her residence on August 30, 1999. She lived with her mother in an east-end Hamilton apartment. Her mother last saw Dana sleeping in her bedroom at 2:30 a.m., August 30, 1999. When her mother woke later that morning, Dana was gone, leaving behind money and all her clothes. She left without any medication, identification or personal belongings.

Dana has had connections to the Greater Toronto and Brooklyn, NY areas and the police were told she might have gone to Brooklyn but they found no proof she crossed the border.

Dana was shown in a September 17, 1999 Spectator photo, walking in a Take Back the Night march. In August 2000 she called a male friend in Hamilton, who had no idea she was missing. She told her friend she was living in Mississauga. In 2002, one of Dana's old girlfriends called police and said she had seen the young woman at Chapters. Despite these sightings, she has not been located.

Dana was born and raised in Hamilton, along with her younger brother, she was a "so-so" student who enjoyed drama, had a good number of friends and a love of books. Dana graduated from Delta Secondary School and took a few years off to travel. Dana did enroll in a tourism program at a downtown vocational school. She lived with a boyfriend for a while, but when that didn't work out, she moved back into her mother's small east-Hamilton apartment. Dana had plans to get her own place, at the time of her disappearance.

Police checks have failed to locate Dana Zelic's whereabouts. Police are concerned for her well being.
